About / Alan Li
Software, with a human perspective.
Production frontend experience, full-stack project work, and a creative practice that informs my product judgment.
Building for real use
I’m a software engineer based in Seattle. At lululemon, I work on e-commerce experimentation, frontend architecture, and reliability. My contributions include micro-frontend integration, server-side preloading, and handling failures across application boundaries.
Outside work, I build and maintain products for needs I know firsthand: presenting my photography and receiving inquiries, and helping a theater organization share its work with bilingual audiences.
Background
I earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, with minors in Mathematics and Complex Systems. Earlier, I studied Computer Science and Mathematics at Pennsylvania State University.
As a research assistant in the Intelligent Transportation System Lab, I worked on LSTM-based collision prediction and co-authored research on connected vehicle systems.
What creative work brings to engineering
Theater asks me to pay attention to pacing and to the work of an ensemble. Photography asks me to notice what a person is communicating and how framing changes an experience. I bring that same attention to interfaces and product decisions.
My interests also include podcasting.
Selected earlier work
The Long Road is a collaborative Unity project where I worked on narrative, progression, and player interaction. It remains part of my background in designing interactive systems.
